Another event next week

For those of you who have a renewed interest in classical music after the White House concert with violinist Joshua Bell and others, there’s always lots to catch over at the IU Jacobs School of Music. Dozens of recitals will pass through its halls this weekend, and rehearsals are in progress for the new production of “The Magic Flute,” which opens Nov. 13.

On Tuesday night at 8, guitarist Jason Vieaux will perform a guest recital in Auer Hall. The program will include works by Isaac Albeniz, Johann Sebastian Bach, Leo Brouwer and Pat Metheny.
A publicist just called me to see what we were planning as far as a story/preview. Unfortunately, I had never received any info. Here’s what I just got:

“Highlights of the current season includes concerts at the Lincoln Center and 92nd St. Y in NYC, as well as tours overseas in Poland and S. Korea. He frequently appears as soloist with the nations’ most prestigious symphony orchestras including the Cleveland Orchestra and Cleveland Symphony. The link below contains a recent in-studio appearance at NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts.”
