Checking in

Forget post-Halloween candy comas; this writer’s been sick for almost a month (and is sick of it). First I missed Lotus, then I missed the costumed capers. Ah well, moving on …
So today I’m playing catch up. In case you’re looking for something tonight, you can catch the Concert Orchestra at IU, Bulletproof Soul at Bear’s, the Spinto Band at the Bishop, O2R and blues jammers at the Players’ Pub, or artist/author James Alexander Thom reception at the Venue.
Tomorrow, country rising star Eric Church plays at the Bluebird. (The nightclub also hosts Bassnectar and Ghostface Killah this calendar week.)

This weekend is proving to still be strong, even without a holiday attached. Or is there? Just as stores and malls are swapping pumpkins and ghouls for lights and presents, so too are our fair city’s galleries rotating in new artwork with a Feast of the Arts. (Gift-buying season has officially begun.) IU continues its Pink madness with a fashion show; evergreen reality/MTV star Theo Von headlines the Funny Bone; Mount Eerie performs at the Banneker Center; and Rhino’s hosts its first-ever video game tourney with “Super Smash Bros.” And that’s just Thursday/Friday happenings. Look for more in the calendar at right, or in Thursday’s paper/HTO listings.

Back to the grind I go. *blows nose*
